Personal Evaluation for Computer Information Systems Online

Tell us why you decided to go into your chosen field of study, and how your education reinforced your desire to be a systems analysis for Caterpillar. How do these factors translate into benefits for us should we desire to hire you?

For as long as I can remember, computers have been a pivotal part of my life. Growing up in the era that I did computers were widely used and even began to appear in homes when I was a child. I was immediately fascinated with not just the computer but how it functioned and what its capabilities were. So as you can imagine, this passion has been instilled in me from childhood and it became very clear that I wanted to work in the field with computers from a very early age. In high school, after basically teaching a web development class the administration built a team to have the website of the school established. The four of us were responsible for everything pertaining to the website including design, function, and maintenance year after year. Upon attending an online university for a degree program, I honestly was not sure of what I wanted to pursue as a career. Computers were always a part of my life and I just was not sure that they were my passion. My major from day one has been Computer Information Systems and has been very educational and informative but I just was not sure what I wanted to do. Then a very endowed professor recommended me to an Information Security class and that’s when it became very clear that this is what I was meant to do.
During my time here at Louisiana Tech University there have been many situations that have helped reassure my decision in becoming a systems analyst for a major company. One of which was the professors, I always knew I had a strong love and passion for computers but after immersing into my curriculum, I began to increase knowledge and broaden my perspective which allowed me to reinforce this passion.

While working at a local restaurant, 102 K Bistro, I began to hone my oral communication skills. I quickly became the head Sushi Chef which helped me become the man I am today. While rolling Sushi I was at an “action station” which means I have daily interactment with the customers. During the two years of working for the Bistro during my undergrad, they asked me for help maintaining the information system. I replaced the outdated system and replaced it with an existing system which is still running today. After replacing the system, I continued to test, maintain, and improve the system and it became something that I took pride in.

I am a Delti Chi Alumni and the experience within the fraternity taught me a lot of things. I was also a member of the Catholic Christian Ministry which was also very educational. Life within the fraternity taught me how to have courage and convictions to defend the opinions of myself and others. The two memberships also taught me how to work well on a team, how to assign and complete roles and tasks. The last four years in Computer Information Systems have been challenging and very rewarding. I have already been able to implement the skills that I learned while attending Online School University. Looking back to when I was an incoming freshman, I had no clue I would find something I was so passionate about for my future. After having one of the absolute best college experiences by being involved in campus organizations, I know that I am competent with leadership and communication skills. These same leadership and communication skills will assist me in the road to becoming a Systems Analyst in the near future.

Accountant- Business Personal Eval

Tell us why you decided to go into your chosen field of study, and how your education reinforced your desire to be an accountant. How do these factors translate into benefits for us should we desire to hire you?

Growing up, I have always had an innate love for math and numbers. When I look at numbers such as a telephone number or a bar code, I instantly try and find a relationship within a set by manipulating them through addition or multiplication. Math continuously proves to be the most enjoyable subject for me because of my natural ability and the challenge it presents. During high school, I attended New York District Literary Rally for Accounting. Being chosen as the student to attend out of my entire school was an honor because the teacher decides the best student fit to go.

I placed 1st overall in my district and was allowed to proceed on to Louisiana State Literary Rally. After enjoying my Accounting class in high school and placing high at Literary Rally, I verified the instinct to choose Accounting as my field of study for college.
When I first started at CA Tech University, I decided to join a sorority for several reasons. As a well-rounded individual, I wanted to become involved on campus, create new lasting friendships, and devote time to philanthropies. I immediately decided I wanted to take on a leadership position within my sorority, so I applied to become Assistant Treasurer to gain experience within the accounting field. The following year, I was elected to Executive Council serving as Treasurer of Kappa Delta Sorority. Being the Treasurer was time consuming and tedious, but I enjoyed being in a leadership position and using my skills to better my sorority. I had to create a new budget for the year, complete monthly reports, and do all the bookkeeping while working alongside an accountant. I exemplified leadership and social skills through my responsibilities as a Treasurer by communicating with Executive Council about important events, settling monetary issues within my chapter, and speaking in front of over 100 women at each weekly meeting.

Not only have I devoted myself to my sorority, I have also maintained a job during college. I am currently employed at Kanner and Whiteley as a file clerk. Working at the law firm has taught me to be a better business professional and force me to uphold my responsibility. I know how to dress appropriately and conduct myself accordingly in a professional environment. As a file clerk, I am trusted to maintain and organize multidistrict litigations and pull federal court pleadings. I work full time during the summer, and I work 15 hours a week through a remote database while at school. The law firm allows for me to work remotely because I have proved to them my trustworthiness and reliability through my work ethic and product.

In conclusion, I will be the best suited candidate for the accounting position because of my love for the subject and life experiences. I am certain that becoming an accountant will allow me to prosper and is the perfect career path for me. My ability to maintain a 4.0 GPA, work, and be involved on campus shows my responsibility and time management skills. Also, my dedication to being Treasurer of Kappa Delta demonstrates my leadership capabilities and social skills. My credibility is displayed through my employer entrusting in me the ability to work remotely from school. I am confident in my skills which validates my ability to become the perfect employee.

Systems Administrator for BUSN 420 -Personal Evaluation Statement

Tell us why you decided to go into your chosen field of study, and how your education reinforced your desire to be a Systems Administrator. How do these factors translate into benefits for us should we desire to hire you?

There are a few reasons that inspired me to get my degree in Computer Information Systems. As a young child growing up in a huge world with endless opportunities I always had a passion for technology and the security and protection of people and their valuables. Even at a young age I enjoyed interacting with computers. To this day I remember when my family got their first computer. It was in 1997 when we went to the Gateway store and brought the huge white brick computer back when I was 7.

My parents always told me I was in the middle of everything trying to learn and take charge of how to install the programs. In high school I always enjoyed taking business and computer application classes, and designing simple websites and doing basic programming all came very easy to me. I was fortunate to become a Certified Microsoft Office Specialist by my junior year of high school, an accomplishment which I was very proud of.

As an undergrad at Georgia Tech University I believe that the classes I have taken for my degree were very applicable to concepts and activities that I can bring to this job. My Computer Tools for Business class helped me to interact with computers and computer systems, set up functions, and enter data and then process information. The Principles of Information Systems class helped me to observe and obtain information from different sources. My Introduction to Problem Solving and Programming class has helped to give me a solid foundation on basic programming principles. As an undergrad I am going to run for a leadership position in the organization of AITP which is the Association of Information Technology Professionals. I am a well-rounded individual who both works hard in the work place and in extracurricular activities. I know that I am a team player because I played intramural basketball and softball in my college years. I also participate in a Women’s Leadership Spokesman’s Club put on by my church which I feel is helping to improve my public speaking skills.

Although I have not had any jobs related to my career choice at this point in time I have had work experience that I believe has taught me valuable lessons. I worked for a professional landscape company for a few summers. In that time I learned valuable speaking skills when consulting with clients about their landscape architect. I learned to clarify the points of interest that the clients would desire. Over these past summers I did use my hands, machinery and tools a great deal which also taught me to work hard and how to work well as a team. One very important concept I learned and hold important in my work ethics is the importance of finishing projects on time, and how crucial it is to listen to directions. When you don’t finish your assigned projects or don’t listen to directions you cost work time, money, and the respect of the clients. And as an employee I don’t find this acceptable.

I know that my selected career path is the place where I am supposed to be. I’ve enjoyed every class I have taken at Georgia Tech University that was towards my major in Computer Information Systems. I do believe that if I have the privilege to come on board with this company I can be a positive influence and an asset to the team.

Supply Chain Management Personal Evaluation for BUSN 420

Tell us, why you decided to go into your chosen field of study, and how your education reinforced your desire to be a Supply Chain Management Major. How do these factors translate into benefits for us should we desire to hire you?

Growing up as a kid I always prevailed in math. I enjoy using numbers and coming up with different equations to solve situations. Every new equation brought to my attention by my teachers was always a challenge. The butterflies I get in my stomach when I’m working a problem and I finally get the solution before any of my other classmates thrilled me. Once I got to high school, I just knew I was going to be a mathematics major in college, so I chose Finance as my goal major my freshmen year in high school. I joined a club, Future Manager Leaders of America the same year. My advisor, Mr. Connor, asked me did I want to compete in any categories that the club offered. I told him sure is there anything I can do involving math, and he said yes try accounting. I studied all year to prepare for the competition in March. All my studying paid off, I got first place at the district competition, and made it to state. However, I did not place in the state competition, but I realized that I really liked accounting. I took the dual enrollment Accounting class for college my junior year in high school and completed the course with an A. Upon graduating, I chose Accounting as my major in the Business College at Auburn.

My first year at Auburn, I took Managerial Accounting and I loved it, I just knew this is what I was going to do and I was not changing my major. My accounting advisor, Dr. Stevens the best! She made me so interested in my major, I looked forward to taking all the different levels of accounting, until I took intermediate accounting. We had a project called System Understanding Aid that gave you a real world experience as an accountant. This is when I realize being an accountant was not what I really wanted to do. Thus, I had to reevaluate my skills, and the things I was good at to figure out what major I wanted to change to. In high school I was always good at managing/being a leader. I was the captain of my basketball team from 6th grade until 9th grade. My junior year in high school, I was the leader of my Business Financial Plan in FBLA, and I became President my senior year. I was the basketball manager for our boys basketball team my junior and senior year. So, I was really good at being a leader and managing a team. Dr. Stevens advised me to look into the Supply Chain Management major and I did. I decided this is what I was destined to do.
I got a job at a book store called School Book Rentals, Inc. in Alabama right by Auburn. My uncle is the store manager so she hired me right off the back. She allowed me to apply my management skills to my job for her. I had to keep up with all the student records who rented books from us. Before each semester or quarter began, I had to do inventory on each book, order more books and different books needed for classes for that semester/quarter, and call people that still had not turned their books in from the previous quarter/semester. Some days, I had to open up the store and run the store for that day by myself, dealing with 20-50 students a day. It gave me a lot of experience and I appreciated her helping me with that.

I have grown to love being a supply chain major, and I know this is the career field I want to be in. Having the opportunity to actually run and manage a business for 2 different colleges is a very tactful job, but I appreciated every minute of it. It helped me better myself as a person and as a candidate for a job other than one with family. The combination of my skills and personality would make a great assets to the company, and I look forward to learning and creating new things with the company.

Personal Evaluation for a Marketing Major Business 420 BUSN

Tell us why you decided to go into your chosen field of study, and how your education reinforced your desire to be in sales marketing. How do these factors translate into benefits for us should we hire you?

I have always been intrigued by what motivates people want to purchase things. My first experience in selling and advertising was when I was ten years . In elementary school we always had an annual cookie dough fundraiser. As an incentive to sell the most goods, the winner would take home a special prize and be recognized for his or her hard work. I knew when I saw the prize that I was going to be the student who raised the most money. I loved every minute of selling and working towards a specific goal. I grew up around my father’s company, which has grown into a multistate corporation over the past thirty-five years. My true interest and passion is to work and interact with other individuals while accomplishing goals and sales motives.

I began my education at Harvard as an education major. Soon after I started my core classes I realized that I belonged in a different major. I knew I wanted to be in business; however, I was not sure what part of business I wanted to concentrate on. After my first introduction to marketing class I knew that I was ready to declare a concentration in marketing. I am specifically interested in advertising, and looking closely into the incentives that drive people to make purchases. Strategic theories of consumer behavior interest me and make me want to learn more about it. One specific assignment that has always stood out to me was in Consumer Behavior, we had to innovate any product and advertise to our target market. For me, this came naturally and I enjoyed this project and group effort of teamwork. My group members asked me for guidance and assistance on their portions of the project. Presenting in front of my peers and taking that leadership role made me feel extremely accomplished and proud. Promoting a product that I believed in came natural for me. I took pleasure in the opportunity to work with others and achieve our group goal of the project.

Tech has shown me how to achieve my goals personally, academically, and ethically. The College Of Business has provided a strong foundation to expand upon. I have had the opportunity to interact with colleagues in my major, as well as others in a different concentration, and become a part of groups such as the marketing club. The College of Business at Tech has taught me knowledge about the fundamentals of business and how to apply that knowledge ethically in the business world. I would not possess the knowledge and understanding of business marketing that I do if it were not for the time that I have dedicated to my education.

I am very anxious to begin my career in marketing. Marketing is not something I have to work at, it comes naturally to me. I enjoy working with other people and accomplishing goals. Tech has prepared me with the skills I posses to begin my career in the business world. I want to excel in my career and enjoy the opportunity to do something that I am truly passionate about.

1The Personal Evaluation Statement: Some Things to Keep in Mind

The reader is looking for motivation, competence, and potential as an employee.
Emphasize everything from a positive perspective.
Demonstrate everything by example. Don't just say that you're a persistent person or a leader; you must demonstrate it.
You don't want to make excuses, but you can talk about the mistakes you've made as a learning experience.
If there is something important that happened (poverty, illness, excessive work, etc.), which affected your grades, go ahead and state it but write it affirmatively; that is, in a way that shows your perseverance. Keep the tone positive.
Make sure everything is linked with continuity and focus.
Write, rewrite, and rewrite. Ask for help. Ask others to review your statement -- career counselors, faculty you've asked to write a recommendation.
Adhere to the format, which is about 500 words, single-spaced, on one page. Use correct grammar and spelling. Be concise.
The Structure of the Personal Evaluation Statement
There are 3-4 parts to the statement:
Part 1: Introduce the idea of what you want to be and why. Often writers explain what made them choose their career path and the events that led up to the choice of the major in college. You may discuss your childhood, your relationship with your parents, hobbies, high school classes or teachers, in short, anything that tells the reader why you have chosen this career path. If possible, it is especially important to demonstrate a passion for the career choice.
Part 2: Summarize what you did as an undergraduate. Talk about an important class or classes that you took which reinforced your desire to go into your intended career field. You might mention specific assignments you did and projects where teamwork or specific skills were required. Additionally, here you may elaborate on any activities you’ve participated in while attending Tech that show that you are well-rounded, responsible, have social skills, and are a leader. (Information about activities may be discussed in either part two or three, depending on where it seems most relevant.)
Part 3: Talk about work experience you’ve had which relates to the job (such as an internship), and explain what you did that broadened your knowledge of your field and the desire to chose your intended occupation. However, any work experience you have where you’ve shown skills and qualities such as responsibility, leadership, customer interaction, time management skills or trustworthiness is applicable. (In some circumstances, mentioning personal details that reinforce these skills or demonstrate the ability to multi-task may be applicable in this section as well.)

Part 4: Conclude by reaffirming that you know the career path you have chosen is the right one for you, and why you will be the perfect employee for the position offered. This may include mentioning any other relevant factors that you have as of yet neglected to mention. However, the conclusion is not the place to introduce radically new ideas or concepts – its purpose is to provide closure.
